About the Artist

Sofia Sue-Wah-Sing is a Guyanese and Italian, Ontario-based artist working in analog and digital photography, collage, painting, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and fibre arts. Their most recent work investigates the effects of colonialism on Caribbean cultural expression and feelings of belonging. Their master’s thesis, titled We Are All We Need, was shown at the OCADu Ada Slaight Gallery in 2026 and combined auto-ethnography, research on Caribbean healing traditions, and artefacts from family archives to generate a practice of belonging that can be shared with others. Their other work has also been shown at Queen's Park, Sheridan College,  and Blackwood Gallery and they have been featured in Greenwood Publication, BUFF magazine, and The Take Action Gallery.

As an artist and educator, their decolonial politics plays a role in their approach to both of their fields. They believe in neutralizing power dynamics in the classroom and knowledge-sharing as an anti-colonial method to generate community self-sustenance.
