Chest Space (2025)
“This piece is a meditation on my own chest, representing a complex web of events, feelings, and identities that structure the relationship I have with my body. I think of the moments in my life where having breasts has troubled me, exploring the violence of the male gaze and hypersexualization; the fear and pain in having biopsies, ultrasounds, and surgeries; the chaos of having a body part that disagrees with the way I wish to express my gender. By highlighting this part of my body, I look to expose the ways in which my body - a queer body - interacts with and changes the space around me, creating environments that are sometimes freeing, sometimes violent, sometimes confusing, sometimes uncomfortable.”
